Does Launch X431 Pro5 clone ECU have to use USB connection?

Question:

I usually connects Launch X431 Pro5 via WiFi. Today when trying to clone a EDC16 ECU with Pro5 and X-prog3. Device ask for USB connection rather than WiFi. Does Launch X431 Pro5 clone ECU have to use USB connection?

If need to read/write/clone ECU or TCUs, better use USB connection because data is huge, USB connection is stable than WiFi.

There is a USB port on the side of Pro5. You cannot connect USB cable with Pro5 directly. Need a OTG converter.

When do BMW online programming, it will also ask to connect via ENET cable via USB port.
