Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. It has been working very well for me.

So far with just initial use its worked well and very impressed, I got this more as a stand by device as you never need these things until you don't have it. Lets hope I don't but worth the money to have it just in case.

I have an older model of the x431 and this one is by far much faster and allows you to do much more. Works well on my 2009 Mini Cooper convertible.

I'm pretty impressed with how much this little scan tool can do. I'm a mechanic and I mainly work on US and Asian vehicles but the coverage is excellent for all makes and models.
It is really quick at booting up, apx 30 Mississippis from fully off and instant if it's in sleep mode.
Like many scan tools the auto ID feature is there through the OBD2 port, but I really liked the vin scan feature. It uses the camera to get the vin if it can't auto ID.
It's nice that it can use some of the other attachments since I have the battery tester, the borescope, and the immobilizer tool. It can also utilize the scope and sensor simulator if you happen to have those.
Looks it has quite a bit of room with over 40GB of storage left after you get all the software loaded. It didn't take very long to load all of the software either.
This is definitely worth the money for anyone who wants a scan tool and then some.

I've purchased Launch scan-tools for over 15 years. They just keep getting better and better! As a shop owner and automotive Instructor, I'm constantly looking for the best tools. I tested 4 vehicles with this tool before the review. The first was a 2006 Mercedes SLK-350 with codes in many different modules. I was able to diagnose and repair all issues. The second vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Tacoma with knock sensor issues. I was able to graph the sensors live while testing. All modules were easily accessible. The third vehicle was a 2008 Lexus LS460L with air ride suspension issues. I was able to access all modules including suspension data. The 4th vehicle was a 2015 Toyota Prius with high voltage battery issues. I easily scanned all modules and was able to see individual battery cell data. Thus tool has so many advanced level features, including key programming, module coding, diesel regeneration, maintenance reset, battery registration, air conditioning door calibration, plus much more. I love this tool!

Works extremely well. Fast, and wide range of vehicle support. Easy to update, and updates seem to come out regularly. Offers many of the features of the OEM programmer for a fraction of the cost, minus ECU firmware upgrading (does not offer J2534 pass-through for OEM software). I was able to enable features on my car that were not available from the factory. Wide range of ECU data available (this is definitely not only a diagnosis tool, you can see and edit all sorts of data). Charges via USB C or OBDII. Comes with a nice carrying case and long OBDII cable, which is nice to set the unit in the passenger seat and go for a drive to capture data. Support is also excellent, both through email and the app on the actual device.

This Launch X431 PRO ELITE scanner by far is the most advanced, intuitive, and capable scanner I have used. Upon receipt of this scanner, I used it immediately on four vehicles ranging from a 1999 Dodge Cummins pick up to a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. In three of the four scans, this scanner showed codes that my other scanners did not show. I have attempted to upload a photo of one from the Volkswagen. While my over 10 year old launch was good, this one is like comparing a Yugo to a Ferrari. This unit, is so much faster, intuitive, and easy to use than previous units. I particularly like how easy it is to find and reset maintenance intervals. In all but one of my scans, it easily read the Vin number. The only vin number it did not read, was on the Nissan, and that could have easily been operator error. The TPMS function works great and having the diagnostic history available is something I have never had but will enjoy. Vehicle coverage is good, in fact, way more than I will ever need. I highly recommend this unit as an affordable, user-friendly, capable unit that is better than most more expensive units I have seen come off of a tool truck. If you need a scanner, buy this one!
